Tornado on the Sun!

This video from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory shows plasma spinning around on the surface of the sun, looking a lot like what we’d call tornadoes. Except these whirls are as large as our entire planet and move with gusts up to 300,000 miles per hour!
For a 30 hour spell – on February 7 and 8, 2012 – NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory captured plasma caught in a magnetic dance across the Sun’s surface. The results closely resemble extreme tornadic activity on Earth. A solar physicist at NASA said the tornado might be as large as the Earth itself and have gusts up to 300,000 miles per hour.
